Timothy John Berners-Lee, better known as Tim or TimBL, was born on June 8, 1955, in London, England. He was the eldest son of Conway Berners-Lee and Mary Lee Woods. His mother was a mathematician who worked as a computer programmer for Ferranti in Manchester.
